The Department of English at Quaid I Azam University hosted a thought-provoking discussion session titled "The World of Stories, Media Representation, and Pakistan" on March 11, 2024. The event featured distinguished Pakistani/Australian writer, poet, and journalist, Dr Arshad Shad.
Born in Moradabad, India, Ashraf's journey traversed borders as he migrated to Pakistan post-Partition, eventually settling in Australia in 1989. His literary repertoire encompasses poetry, political fiction, and novels, with notable works like "Bewatan" earning him the prestigious Prime Minister Literary Award for best novel in 1998.
The discussion delved into the intricate relationship between storytelling, media portrayal, and Pakistan's narrative on the global stage. Attendees were treated to insights from Ashraf's diverse experiences, having lived in various countries including the United States, Hungary, UAE, Bahrain, Brunei, and Kuwait.
